When you kill Sirius Black, I rebel… apparently.

I’m terrible at keeping up with blogging. I use my spare time to sleep and my weekends to try to go to the beach if I’m not in Rhode Island having adventures… but I was just sitting here and I thought of a few things to add to that elusive 100 things list:

63. I cannot believe I didn’t mention this sooner but not only am I a die-hard Yankee fan, but I absolutely love Derek Jeter. I think he is a stand-up guy, a true hero among athletes. It amazes me that someone can be so successful and so good at what he does, and play for the greatest team in the sport, and still remain humble and admirable.

64. I’ve always loved to read, when I was little and throwing tantrums acting out over my dad starting to work days, the doctor told my mom “buy her a book”…. and well, the rest is history.

65. My favorite actress is Jennifer Aniston. I loved her in Friends, and I love her in every movie she’s ever done. Particularly the flick she did with Gerard Butler (yum). I think she’s gorgeous and an incredibly strong and confident woman. I envy her.

66. When I was 13 and J.K. Rowling killed off Sirius Black in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, I stopped reading Harry Potter novels. Until this day, I couldn’t remember why I stopped reading the books after book 5. I assumed I just got bored of them. Now, I remember crying my eyes out about Harry losing his only family and then when book 6 came out and I heard about Dumbledore, that was it for me. Now that I’m 21 and more mature, I’ve decided I’ll read books 6 and 7, and maybe even see the movies past 4… (I wouldn’t see 5 because I didn’t want the visual of Black dying, I’m pathetic).

That’s it for now, and on that note, I’m off to read book 6… Ha Ha.

100 things, part VI

Don’t think I forgot about that list of 100 things– I added a few more to the list today. Nothing worth too much excitement, but I figured I’d post them up here to get you interested again, maybe cause you to read back a little bit :)

57. You know how they say that somewhere in the world there is someone out there for everyone who is exactly like you? I’ve recently discovered that person. Courtney Marie Vetter. I’m unsure still if it is a product of us spending time together, or that we spend so much time together because we are so alike (you know, which came first, the chicken or the egg) but I do know that our similarities creep me out. They range anywhere from the way we dress, think or even respond to things—truly, it’s sickening.

58. I’m in my third year of college and I’ve only just discovered that the best way for me to study is to write things down. Go figure, a writer, learning by writing. So now, when I study, I look somewhat like Einstein, drawing notes and diagrams all over the whiteboards in any random unlocked classroom.

59. I stress out way too much. I spend more time than necessary worrying about the long-term, which usually results in my putting off short-term items, which leads me to freak out about them—logical, I know.

100 things, part IV.

I’m struggling to come up with things for my list of 100 things, so this may very well be it until I get back to school at least..

52.      I am never “on time.” I am either a little early or a few minutes late. I strive for “early,” although sometimes I can’t help it. I think it’s because at times I underestimate how much time I need to either get ready, or get from point A to point B. My mother goes insane at the idea of not leaving forever before needing to be somewhere, my father is content leaving at 8 if the time to be there is 8—I think I created a nice combination.

53.     I typically need to stay busy or I go crazy.

54.     Although I could if I needed to, I hate jumping out of bed in the morning. For that reason, I’ve always set my alarm a few minutes early so I can hit snooze and lie in between sleep and awake for a few minutes. At school, to combat this, I set my clock a few minutes ahead.

55.     I am a creature of habit. Once I get into a routine, I tend to stick to it.

56.     I appreciate good grammar. I will correct you if you tell me you “did good” and remind you that you did well, because you cannot do an adjective. When I am reading anything, even a text message, I become easily annoyed by poor grammar, especially the improper use of “your.”

100 things, part III.

After all that has gone down in the past few days—post camp, oh and the posting of a week’s worth of hand written blog posts, I think today is a good day to post some additions to my list of 100 things.

35.   I’m the biggest little kid at heart. I still sleep with a teddy every night—her name is ‘Princess’ because she wears a Disney Princess t-shirt—this is probably because of #10. From time to time (and by that I mean any time I can) I still watch all my old Disney VHS tapes. You should have seen me when I saw Disney on Ice—this was in January.

36.   I detest folding laundry—I think it has something to do with being a compulsive perfectionist.

37.   I often procrastinate certain things. This is only because I know that once I start something, I won’t finish it until it’s complete. So in a sense, procrastinating is my way of saving myself.

38.   I’m still deciding whether it is a gift or a curse, but as long as my brain is not idle and I have something else to worry about, I rarely let heartache get in the way. It’s as if I have the ability to put up walls.

39.   I have a huge heart—I love making people smile. I like throwing surprise parties, and baking cakes. When it comes to birthdays and other gift giving holidays, I spend a lot of time finding gifts that mean something, and if I can’t find that one perfect gift, I like to compile a bunch of stuff together—for my friend Katie’s graduation, I made her a huge ‘College Survival Kit’—it was a ton of fun. I also spent two months searching for my dad’s Father’s Day gift. That kind of stuff just makes me happy.

40.   I regrettably admit that in the first few moments I am faced with something which seems out of my control, I meltdown for a minute. I can say with confidence though that I almost always find a way to gain back control.

41.   Most days, I prefer sweet and sugary candy to chocolate.

42.   I am a fiery and passionate Yankee fan—although I was born and raised this way, it really developed after spending my first year at college in Rhode Island (the land of Red Sox fans).

43.   After my trip to France and Spain—I discovered that I love to travel. Right now, I would do anything to spend time in Ireland. I think it is a beautiful country.

44.   I love to take pictures—I like to be able to look back on the memories—plus, I make killer scrapbooks!

45.   I’m both Irish and Italian—although I look as if I am 100% Irish most days. This means my skin is very fair but I tan nicely, except for when I burn, then neither one of my nationalities can help.

46.   I hate my arms. When I asked my mom why she wore a long-sleeved wedding dress, she said two things: 1) it was the style then, and 2) “I hate my arms.” Well mom, tack that on the list of things I’ve grudgingly inherited from you—some day, when I’m rich and famous, I’ll get a personal trainer to fix this problem for us both.

 47.   No matter what I say, I always manage to wait until the last minute to do everything. Mentally, I prepare and know what I have to do, and make checklists in my mind, yet somehow, it’s usually 3am the night before, and I’m packing, or doing whatever else it was I had to do.

48.   I love angels. When I was a kid, my nana called me her angel, so I was always getting angel-related presents—I have quite the collection of angels.

49.   My ability to write with little effort, and in record time, is the envy of many of my friends.

50.   Since I graduated high school, I grew into myself and my view of the world has changed. I think this has to do with working for Bridge2Life. I love my campers unconditionally, and loving and learning through them has taught me a great deal: things are never as bad as they seem, don’t sweat the small stuff, and most importantly love, and be grateful for, what you have, especially your family.

51.   Ever since Kyle was sick, I’ve become slightly compulsive over certain things; especially cleanliness. Don’t even talk to me about my feelings on a dirty bathroom.

100 things about me, part II.

The timer on the cake I’m baking just went off, so I figured today was a good day to post 21-34 of my list of 100 things about me… after 20 minutes of trying to format it the same way as the last one, I realized it was impossible (once again, compulsive perfectionist).

21. I typically detest fast food—and I really try to eat healthy—but put a bag of cheese doodles in front of me (only the puffy kind) and it won’t be there for much longer.

22. I have an irrational fear of stairs which have no backs. Come to think of it, it probably isn’t all that irrational—when I was little my friend’s older brother went under our basement stairs and grabbed my feet as I was running up them. As a result of all of this, I was traumatized—not  only am I terrified of all stairs without backs, but still, at 20 years old, I sprint up those steps as if my life depends on it—and don’t even try to get me down in that basement alone at night.

23. I waited 8 years to see Wicked. For my 20th birthday, my dad bought tickets for me and my mom. I cried 3 times during the show out of sheer joy and amazement.

24. Two weeks before my 20th birthday, I discovered I’m slightly lactose-intolerant—I’m Italian—I love pizza and ravioli is my favorite mealimagine my predicament.

25. I think coffee is gross, and I can’t stand the smell, let alone the taste, of energy drinks—as a college student, this is unheard of, and also results in me consuming far too much soda during finals.

26. I never learned to swim. Yes, I know, I live on an island. Yes, my parents taught both my brother and sister, it wasn’t like they failed me—I just never learned. Last summer, I learned that I get the basic idea of it, and wouldn’t drown because I do in fact know how—I’m just incredibly unconfident in my abilities.

27. I could not wait to get out of high school, yet I stood in the cafeteria with many of my friends crying my eyes out an hour after the final bell rang.

28. I believe in that “moment” when you know something. Bryant was the first school I visited—I applied early decision. On the other hand, I tried on at least 50 other dresses before finding my prom dress.

29. I am similar to both my parents in many ways. However, my mom says she “can’t stand” when my father and I are together because we’re so similar it drives her crazy—I remind her that she was the one who married him.

30. I’ve been to over 50 concerts. In high school, I frequently spent my weekends in NYC, waiting on lines, no matter the weather, to get a good spot. I once waited 10 hours to see All Time Low—I was first on the line and by the time doors opened my body was completely numb, but it was worth it. That concert I not only got to sit on stage, but caught Rian Dawson’s drumstick. For my pre-teen All Time Low obsessed self, this was heaven.

31. I love the banana flavored laffy-taffy. My friends tell me it’s the worst flavor, but I think I win in the end, because no one else will eat it and I get it all!

32. The summer before my senior year, my parents sent me to Europe. I can remember coming home that day with the information forms, just knowing my dad would look at me and say ‘no way.’ Instead though, he told me it would be an amazing opportunity, and that as long as I provided my own spending money, I could go. I spent two weeks traveling all through France and Spain—it was literally the most amazing thing I have ever done.

33. I usually take life as it comes—good or bad. I’ve had many amazing experiences and opportunities fall into my lap this way. Although I do believe in going after what I want at all costs.

34. I decided long ago that I’m going to name my first daughter Paetyn Rae. My mother thinks this is some sort of plot against her because my dad’s name is Ray.

.. on that note, Happy Father’s Day!

100 things about me, part I.

The Yanks lost. As I sit here listening to Jon Stewart mock the oil crisis, I’d love to be witty and join in; however, I’m too angered over the game. So I decided I’d start making a list of 100 things about myself. I’ll post what I come up with, as I come up with it, and eventually I suppose I’ll post the entire list at once up top somewhere. Here it goes…

  1. I was born on Groundhogs Day—February 2nd—this means that each year on my birthday, my mom asks me if I’ve seen my shadow; it never gets old.
  2. My favorite color is green; when I was a kid I remember someone once telling me this meant I was weird—well, green actually denotes balance, harmony, and stability and is the national color of Ireland—I’ll take it.
  3. I love the beach—I think it is so completely relaxing.
  4. I am the oldest sibling of 3—my brother, Kyle is 21 months younger than me, and my sister, Breanna, is 5 years younger.
  5. I have an unhealthy obsession with the show One Tree Hill—I’m talking I laugh, cry and every other emotion you can think of, with them—I honestly have been watching the show for so long (7 years) that I feel like the characters are part of my life. Don’t even mention that this next season will be their last—I’m not sure how I’ll handle it.
  6. Normally, I go with the flow and handle stress pretty well; however, when I am overtired, I am a huge grump.
  7. I don’t mind being alone in the house—until I have to shower—for some reason showering with no one home sends me into panic—I think it has to do with my nana forcing scary movies on me when I was younger.
  8. When I was a little kid, I told my dad I wanted to be on the news—he reminds me never to let go of that dream.
  9. During my junior year of high school, I experienced more life changing experiences than many people do in their entire life—I am incredibly thankful for each and every one.
  10. I love to cuddle—seriously, it’s a really big deal.
  11. Every day, I get told I look incredibly young—it bothers the hell out of me—I’ve been told I won’t be bothered by it at all when I’m 40.
  12. I am an incredibly passionate writer, and I like to think I’m pretty good at it—someday, I hope to make a successful life out of this.
  13. For as long as I can remember, music has been a huge part of my life.
  14. To go with that, I am a lyrics person. Some people love music because of the sounds and the beat, and I enjoy that, but not nearly as much as I enjoy a song which has powerful lyrics.
  15. I am the worst ever at returning phone calls, text-messages, etc. It’s not that I don’t care or don’t love you; it’s just that my mind is always thinking of so many things, and I get caught up. My true friends have grown to accept this, and call until I pick up :)
  16. I love shoes—I own over 100 pairs. I blame this obsession on my father. When I was a kid, we’d people watch everywhere we were—the focus of this people watching, “their kicks.”
  17. For as long as I can remember, my family goes on a vacation every summer. We typically get in the car and drive wherever the destination is (yes, even Florida). This is my favorite part of the summer. Especially now that I’m older, despite the unavoidable fights between my siblings and I, it’s really nice for us all to be together sharing laughter.
  18. I enjoy reading—reading for pleasure that is. I think it really says a lot about a person when they can finish a good book. I will admit, I was entirely hesitant to start the Twilight Saga—a friend of mine gave me the first book as a Christmas present—I read all 4 in 2 weeks.
  19. I think Steven Colbert is absolutely hysterical—I try my hardest to watch him every night.
  20. I hate numbers, I hate math. It isn’t that I’m necessarily unintelligent when it comes to these subjects—it just requires way more effort and stress then I am used to putting into something. I’d much rather write a paper on why 2+2=4 then actually do the math. It just stresses me out.

Well, that’s it for now, mainly because Colbert is on, and well, you read number 19…

* as an update, now that the Lakers just won, the Yanks loss seems so much less depressing.. love me a championship ripped from the hands of Boston ;)
